Italy: Sky Italia extends exclusive Formula 1 broadcasting rights until 2022

Sky Italia, a subsidiary of the telecommunications and pay-TV group Sky, has extended its exclusive broadcasting rights for Italy to the Formula 1 World Championship for two years, from 2021 to 2022, on 26/06/2020.

Sky Italia, had acquired the same rights for the 2018-2020 cycle on 25/01/2018. Sky Italia was co-broadcast Formula One in Italy with the public broadcaster RAI during the 2017 season. RAI retains the rights to the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix, which is to be broadcast free-to-air according to the list of events declared to be of major importance.

"Starting in March 2018, Sky will broadcast all Grand Prix live and exclusively on all available platforms (pay-TV, streaming on Now TV, and via the Sky Go mobile platform.) The Sky Sport F1 HD pay-TV channel will broadcast the 21 Grand Prix of each season, four Grand Prix (including the Italian Grand Prix) will also be broadcast free-to-air on the free-TV channel TV8, which will broadcast other races on delay," said Sky Italia.

The 2020 F1 season begins with two Grands Prix in Austria 03-05/07/2020 and 10-12/07/2020.
