FC Schalke 04: Jens Buchta replaces Clemens Tönnies as chairman of the supervisory board

Jens Buchta has been "unanimously voted" as the new chairman of the supervisory board at FC Schalke 04 (Bundesliga) announced the Gelsenkirchen (North Rhine-Westphalia, GER) club on 30/06/2020.

Vice-chairman of the same supervisory board since 2006, the lawyer replaces Clemens Tönnies, who had held the position since 2001. "Clemens Tönnies informed the club that he will be stepping down from his role with immediate effect," added Schalke 04.

"We, the supervisory board of Schalke 04, deeply regret the decision Clemens Tönnies has made. As chairman, he has helped shaped the board in the past years and decades with a mix of his down-to-earth attitude and dynamism. He was the driving force behind a number of processes. His experience and expertise in the role of chairman of the supervisory board will be hard to replace," said Jens Buchta.
