Germany: Parliament grants over €200m in professional sport aid (Teamsport Deutschland)

The Bundestag (German federal parliament) has granted more than €200m in aid to professional sport in Germany. This programme is intended in particular for basketball, handball and volleyball clubs as well as ice hockey clubs, announced the association Teamsport Deutschland on 02/07/2020.

Teamsport Deutschland unites the five largest German team sports federations:
• The German Basketball Federation (Deutsche Basketball Bund/DBB)
• The German Ice Hockey Federation (Deutsche Eishockey Bund/DEB)
• The German Football Association (Deutsche Fußball-Bund/DFB)
• The German Handball Association (Deutsche Handballbund/DHB)
• The German Volleyball Association (Deutsche Volleyball-Verband/DVV)

"The Flyeralarm Frauen-Bundesliga football clubs and the men's third division will also benefit from the government aid, as they have suffered very significant damage due to the loss of ticketing revenue. The only clubs explicitly not concerned by this support are those in the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga," explained Teamsport Deutschland.
