Formula 1: 1.06 million viewers in France for the first Grand Prix of the 2020 season on Canal+

The first Grand Prix of the 2020 Formula 1 season, the Austrian Grand Prix, won by Valtteri Bottas (FIN, Mercedes), drew an average of 1.06 million viewers, with a peak audience of 1.24 million, on the pay-TV channel Canal+, on Sunday 05/07/2020 (start at 15:10 CET).

This is the best audience for an Austrian Grand Prix since Canal+ has been broadcasting the competition (2013 season), and the sixth best of all GPs combined.

Canal+ posted a subscriber audience share of 36% and ranked second in the French television market during the race, behind the free and private TV channel TF1.

  • Canal+ extended its Formula 1 broadcasting rights until 2022 on 21/01/2020. Canal+ previously held these rights until 2020 (acquired in May 2017) and has been broadcasting the competition since 2013.
