A worker at Cuiaba's (BRA) Arena Pantanal was electrocuted and died on 08/05/2014. It is the eighth accidental death at 2014 World Cup (Brazil, 12/06 to 13/07/2014) worksites.

Work will not be interrupted, to deliver the stadium before the start of the competition, according to spokesman for the regional World Cup secretariat in Mato Grosso (centre-western Brazil). The inauguration of the stadium that will host four matches is scheduled for 14/05/2014.

A test match was held between the Brazilian Serie B clubs Luverdense and Vasco da Gama (2-1) on 26/04/2014. "Everything was not perfect, but we did not expect everything to work at 100%. We know where we need to improve and we will do everything to get there, step by step," said Tiago Paes, the director of operational integration of the LOC (Local Organising Committee).

The previous seven deaths at construction sites of the 2014 World Cup:

  • Three at the Arena Amazonia in Manaus
  • Three of the Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo
  • One at Mane-Garrincha stadium in Brasilia
