Bundesliga: FC Schalke 04 to create women's section from the 2020-21 season

FC Schalke 04 (Bundesliga) are to create a women's section from the 2020-21 season, according to the club on 02/07/2020. This section will be composed of an U17 team and a senior team which will be registered in the Kreisliga B (regional division).

"By establishing a new women's and girls' division, we want to expand our range of sporting endeavours. We're incredibly excited to see women and girls finally playing football for our beloved Schalke. Our main focus is within the academy and amateur sports as we look to develop and new branch of youth sports that girls and women of all ages can call home," said Jochen Schneider, sporting director at FC Schalke 04.

The German club proposes all female players interested in its women's team project to register - via a dedicated e-mail address - to take part in the first training sessions which will take place from 18/07/2020.

• From 2021-22, FC Schalke 04 will add a youth team to its women's section each season, starting with the U15 category and then integrating younger girls.
