FIFA: Joseph Blatter to ask congress if he should be candidate for fifth term

Joseph Blatter of Switzerland will ask the FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) congress at its meeting on 11/06/2014 in Sao Paulo (BRA) whether the body wishes him to be a candidate for a fifth term as its leader, according to the Swiss daily Blick on 09/05/2014.

"My mandate is coming to an end, but my mission is not over," said Blatter, who has led FIFA since 08/06/1998 and was re-elected in 2002, 2007 and 2011. The next election to the presidency is scheduled for 29/05/2015 in Zurich (SUI).

Blatter was asked by News Tank on 28/04/2014, "In 2015 you're no doubt asking for a fifth term?" Joseph Blatter replied, without denying anything, "Don't forget that in 1998, I would have been happy to continue as the general secretary of FIFA. But they didn't just want to remove the patriarch [Joao Havelange], but also his prophet."
