"The issue of the new challenge being faced in organising the Olympic Games in a post-coronavirus world" was one of the topics addressed by Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, and Thomas Bach (GER), president of the IOC, "during a fruitful meeting" at the Elysée Palace (Paris, FRA) on 08/07/2020.

"President Emmanuel Macron and I spoke about the importance of sport and sporting activity during and after this unprecedented health crisis that the world continues to face," said Thomas Bach.

"The two men also discussed the project to adapt the Olympic Games to the post-coronavirus world by taking a simplified approach while respecting the planned budget and preserving the message and values conveyed by the Olympic Games," said the IOC.

"The ambition to create sustainable and useful Games that harness the best of our country" (T. Estanguet, Paris 2024).

"The possibility of staging a climate-positive Olympic Games in 2024" (IOC)

• President Bach also reminded the French President of the IOC Local organising committee for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
