RC Lens: creation of a women's team via the acquisition of sports rights from Arras FC Féminin (D2)

"RC Lens (promoted to Ligue 1 Uber Eats) has officially created its own women's football section," announced the French club on 15/07/2020.

"After many years of exchanges and cooperation, the artesian club joined Arras Football Club Féminin in the form of a transfer of sports rights. Thus, AFCF becomes RC Lens Féminin and will now proudly wear the blood and gold colours. This transfer of name, membership, colours and expertise concerns the senior teams to the U11s," added RC Lens, whose new team will play in the women's second division in 2020-21.

"It's the end of a long process and the beginning of a new adventure. The integration of an existing structure will allow us to achieve our goals more quickly. We'll be consolidating what's already in place and improving certain areas to return to the elite of women's football in the near future. The club wants to be fully committed to women's football, and the various stakeholders involved in this project are being asked to make a strong commitment," said Joseph Oughourlian, president of RC Lens.
