Rugby: Canterbury extends as equipment supplier of the Irish Rugby Football Union until 2024

Canterbury, a brand of New Zealand origin based in the United Kingdom, has extended as the official equipment supplier of the Irish Rugby Football Union's (IRFU) senior men's, women's and U20 (Rugby XV and VII) teams for an additional four seasons (2020-2024), announced the Irish body on 20/07/2020.

Canterbury has been equipping IRFU teams since 2014. For the 2014-2020 cycle, the Stockport-based brand will pay the IRFU an estimated €3.65m annually. "Intersport Elverys, which has over 50 retail stores across Ireland, will be the sole distributor in Ireland and the UK," said the body.

While Canterbury has lost its contract with Rugby Football Union (RFU), which joins Umbro from 01/09/2020 for 2020-2024, the company has extended its contract with the British & Irish Lions for the 2021 South Africa tour. Canterbury has been the equipment supplier to the British & Irish Lions (selection of the best English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish players) since 2017.
