Serie A TV rights: A. De Laurentiis (SSC Napoli) wants to create a Lega Serie A channel (€36/month)

Aurelio De Laurentiis, president of SSC Napoli, has proposed the creation of a Lega Serie A channel, starting from the season 2021-22, during a meeting between Serie A TIM club presidents on 20/07/2020, according to the Italian media on 21/07/2020.

The League would be responsible for the production and marketing of the channel to broadcasters and platforms. It would be offered at €36 per month and the objective set by SSC Napoli's president is to reach more than 5 million subscribers after five years. The Italian League would thus generate over €2bn per year in revenue for its domestic broadcasting rights, compared to €973m currently (see below), to which international rights would be added (planned at €330m per year versus €370m currently).

The project would be supported by investment funds which would be minority shareholders in the new audiovisual company created by the Italian League. Several funds (five according to Italian media) are interested in the audiovisual rights to the Serie A TIM and they have until 24/07/2020 to submit their bids to the Lega Serie A.
