Athletic Club Bilbao: an economic impact of €465.9m on the Basque province of Biscay in 2018-19

During the 2018-19 season, Athletic Club Bilbao (LaLiga Santander) generated a total economic impact of €465.9m in the province of Bizkaia/Biscay (Basque Country, ESP), of which the city of Bilbao (population: 350,000) is the capital, according to a report by the international network of audit and consultancy firms PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC), published on 17/07/2020 (document available to download).

To evaluate the economic impact of the Basque club on its province, the club's direct impact (income generated directly by the club, €205.6m in 2018-19), its so-called "driver impacts" (income generated by the economic activity created in other sectors thanks to the club's activity, €128.8m), its indirect impact (impact generated by suppliers in which the club spends and invests, €69m) and its induced impact (the consumption of goods and services that derives from the jobs created by the direct and indirect impacts, €62.5m).
