Formula 1: three new Grand Prix confirmed in Europe, no races to be held in the Americas

Formula One Group announced on 24/07/2020 that three more European Grand Prix will be held in 2020, in Eifel, Germany (on the Nürburgring) from 09 to 11/10/2020, in Portimão, Portugal from 23 to 25/10/2020 and in Imola, Italy from 31/10 to 01/11/2020.

These additions bring the total number of confirmed races, all contested in Europe, to 13 for the 2020 F1 season in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. On the same day, Formula One Management cancelled the races in Canada, the United States, Mexico and Brazil. None of the Grand Prix scheduled in Asia/Oceania (Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, China and Australia) have been confirmed, as of 27/07/2020.

Formula One Management is therefore counting on a season consisting of 16 races, with three races in the Middle East by the end of the 2020 campaign (two GPs in Bahrain and one in Abu Dhabi to close the season). Initially, the 2020 calendar consisted of 20 races.
