FIFA: France has four rivals to host 2019 Women's World Cup

France, England, South Korea, New Zealand and South Africa are bidding to host the 2019 Women's World Cup, FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) announced on 09/05/2014.

FIFA member federations bidding to host the event had to submit a declaration of interest before 15/04/2014. Complete dossiers are due by 31/10/2014. The final choice will be made at the first meeting of the FIFA executive committee in 2015.

  • At the launch of the application process, FIFA said it would prefer that "the 2019 Women's World Cup (24 teams) and the U-20 Women's World Cup (16 teams) in 2018 be hosted and organised by the same association."
  • With the exception of South Africa, all candidates to host the 2019 Women's World Cup are also candidates to host the 2018 U-20 Women's World Cup.
  • The French national women's team finished 4th in the latest edition of the Women's World Cup, held in Germany in 2011. 
    • France is first of its qualifying group for the 2015 World Cup in Canada with 18 points (six wins in six matches).
