Olympique de Marseille: licensing agreement with Sorare for the creation of crypto-digital cards

Sorare, a French startup and developer of a blockchain enabled fantasy football platform, has signed a licensing agreement with Olympique de Marseille (Ligue 1 Uber Eats) to integrate the club's players on its platform, on 28/07/2020.

"Olympique de Marseille's initiative with Sorare aims to develop the OM brand in the United States and Asia, where Sorare has a large user base. Developing a presence on Sorare allows OM to develop its brand with a worldwide audience of gamers but also a new source of revenue previously unavailable through licensing on the blockchain," explained the startup, which is also a partner of the MLS.

"All Olympique de Marseille players will be tokenised and listed on the Sorare global football fantasy platform as limited edition digital collector's cards from 28/07/2020. The Ethereum blockchain is used to establish who is the owner of the digital card at a given time and guarantees the digital rarity of the cards. It creates a new level of security and freedom for players," explained the startup, which has raised €4m since its launch in 2019.
