FIFA: criminal proceedings against Gianni Infantino opened in Switzerland by the federal prosecutor

Stefan Keller, special federal prosecutor of Switzerland, has opened criminal proceedings against Gianni Infantino (ITA-SUI), FIFA president, and requests that the immunity of Attorney General Michael Lauber be waived, announce Swiss authorities on 30/07/2020 (full press release below). The FIFA president is suspected of collusion with Michael Lauber, who resigned on 24/07/2020.

On 29/06/2020, Stefan Keller was appointed special prosecutor of the Swiss Confederation. "This appointment was initially intended to examine the four criminal complaints lodged against Attorney General Michael Lauber, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, as well as others," said the public prosecutor's supervisory authority of the Swiss Confederation.

"Stefan Keller has now closed the examination of two complaints: he concludes that there are elements of reprehensible behavior in connection with the meeting between the Attorney General Michael Lauber, the President of FIFA and the first public prosecutor of the Haut-Valais (SUI).
