Serie A TV rights: "3 private equity fund offers for the Lega Serie A media company" (P. Dal Pino)

"Three of the six largest private equity funds have made offers to us, one is firm, the other two are almost sure. They are interesting and lay the foundations for the future. We have received offers from private equity firms, lenders, intermediaries and advisors. I keep repeating that the aim is to create an independent media company that owns its own destiny, and that can be done alone or with third parties. We are giving ourselves until 25/08/2020 to evaluate these offers," said Paolo Dal Pino, president of the Lega Serie A, on 30/07/2020.

The three investment fund offers relate to the acquisition of 10% of a future Italian League audiovisual company over a nine-year period (2021-2030). According to the Italian media, the firm offer (€1.3bn) is from CVC Capital Partners, a Luxembourg fund with a particular presence in rugby (see related articles), and the other two from US funds Bain Capital (€1.4bn) and Advent (€1.5 bn).
