Criminal proceedings vs Gianni Infantino: "He will continue to fully assume his functions" (FIFA)

"The FIFA president will continue to fully assume his functions within FIFA and fulfil his duties and will continue to cooperate with the authorities in Switzerland and around the world, as it has always done," said the International Federation in a lengthy statement issued on Sunday 02/08/2020, three days after the opening - on 30/07/2020 - of criminal proceedings against Gianni Infantino (ITA-SUI), president of FIFA since 26/02/2016.

Stefan Keller, special federal prosecutor of Switzerland, opened these proceedings and requested that the immunity of Attorney General Michael Lauber be waived, announced the Swiss authorities on 30/07/2020. The FIFA president is suspected of collusion with Michael Lauber, who resigned on 24/07/2020.

At the center of this case, three informal meetings - without any minutes recorded - in the 2016-2017 period between Gianni Infantino and Michael Lauber, as well as - for two meetings at least - the first prosecutor of Haut-Valais Rinaldo Arnold, a childhood friend of Gianni Infantino.
