2020-21 Serie A TIM: first matchday on weekend of 19-20 /09/2020, last matchday on 23/05/2021

The 2020-21 season of the Serie A TIM will start on the weekend of Saturday 19 and Sunday 20/09/2020, one week later than expected, unanimously decided the Council of the Lega Serie A in Milan (ITA) on 03/08/2020. This decision "confirms the preference already expressed in the afternoon by the majority of clubs at a meeting devoted to this issue," said the Italian Professional League.

Seven weeks therefore separate the end of the 2019-20 Italian Championship (interrupted from 09/03 to 20/06/2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic), on 02/08/2020, from the start of the 2020-21 season. The 2020-21 Serie A TIM is expected to end on Sunday 23/05/2021, less than three weeks before Euro 2020, which will start on Friday 11/06/2021.

A short end-of-year break should be respected from 23/12/2020 to 03/01/2021, and six of the 38 matchdays should be organized during the week, one of which is already scheduled for Wednesday 06/01/2021 (traditionally scheduled Serie A matchday for Epiphany, which is a public holiday in Italy).
