esports: Bilibili (China) acquires TV rights to League of Legends events for China (2020-2023)

Bilibili has acquired from Riot Games, the exclusive Mandarin language TV rights to the world events on the League of Legends game, including the "Worlds", the equivalent of the World Championships, for China, for the 2020-2023 period, according to the Chinese streaming platform on 03/08/2020.

The deal, worth ¥800m (€97m) according to Chinese media, also covers the "Mid-Season Invitational" (mid-season tournament) and the annual All-Stars event (an international tournament where the public votes for their favourite professional players) in China.

The Chinese media had already been talking about a similar acquisition for Bilibili which included just the "Worlds" for the 2020-2022 period, on 03/12/2019.

Bilibili also owns the Chinese team Bilibili Gaming (League of Legends) and the Hangzhou Spark franchise in the Overwatch League (Blizzard Entertainment).
