LaLiga: RCD Espanyol requests the cancellation of relegations at the end of the 2019-20 season

"Taking into account all the determining factors which have arisen since the return to competition and in light of the events that have occurred in recent days, in which various clubs have expressed their opposition to the injustice and lack of solutions, RCD Espanyol (LaLiga Santander) is demanding the cancellation of relegations from this season's LaLiga organised competitions, as has happened in those organised by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF)," announced RCD Espanyol on 03/08/2020.

RCD Espanyol finished 20th and last in the 2019-20 LaLiga Santander table with 25 points (5 wins, 10 draws, 15 losses), and have consequently been relegated to LaLiga SmartBank for the 2020-21 season. The club had been playing in the Spanish elite for 26 consecutive seasons since 1994.
