Basketball: creation of an NBA Foundation to help African-American community ($300m over 10 years)

The board of directors of the National Basketball Association have created the first NBA foundation in partnership with the NBPA (National Basketball Players Association), which will have a budget of $300m (€255m) for helping African-American communities, announces NBA 05/08/2020. This announcement follows the movement "Black Lives Matter" in the United States and worldwide.

The NBA has announced that team owners will donate $300m, over a 10-year period (2020-2030), to a Foundation that will help the black community in the United States. The Foundation will focus on "three important pillars of the world of work: obtaining a first job, job security upon leaving high school and university and professional development once started in working life. The various contributions of the NBA Foundation will help support and strengthen the work already carried out by local and national organizations for education and employment."
