Covid-19 / UEFA: postponement or cancellation of competitions for national youth teams

Cancellation of the "elite round" and the final phase of the 2019-20 Women's Euro U-17, andpostponement to March 2021 of the final phase of the Euro U-19 scheduled for November 2020 are two of the measures (see details below) announced by the UEFA executive committee "after consulting the 55 national member associations considering the current COVID-19 situation across Europe," on 13/08/2020.

These measures are intended "to alleviate the additional operational and financial burden on national associations - caused by hygiene conditions impacting travel and accommodation, as well as testing to safeguard the health of athletes and minimize any potential risk of spreading the infection," explained the European body.

"In light of the latest developments due to the spread of Covid-19 in Europe and travel restrictions imposed by governments, all of the elite round mini-tournaments of the U-17, U-17 Women, U-19 and U-19 Women European Championships, which were scheduled to take place between 14/03 and 14/04/2020 are postponed," UEFA had previously announced on 12/03/2020.
