Mastercard has activated its partnership with UEFA and the Champions League via the #PricelessWave operation, the American payment solutions group said on 10/08/2020. Mastercard, a partner of the Champions League since 1994, extended its partnership with UEFA for the 2018-2021 cycle on 09/02/2018.

The objective is to connect the fans, forced to watch on TV an end of the 2019-20 campaign played behind closed doors, by the formation of a "digital wave" via videos posted on social networks and in particular the TikTok platform, where each fan can reproduce the gesture of the "hola". Former footballers Fernando Torres (ESP) and Marcel Desailly (FRA) have made their own videos on TikTok to launch this campaign.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, UEFA decided, on 17/06/2020, that the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final of the 2019-20 Champions League would take place in the form of a eight-team knockout final tournament, in Lisbon (POR) from 12 to 23/08/2020.
