"For the European Cups, we are still in discussion with the television stations. But they must bear in mind that the audiences are excellent. This tournament is very interesting even if there are fewer matches (7 instead of 13, in both the Champions League and the Europa League). I'm not sure that the harm to broadcasters is as great as some people would like to believe," said Aleksander Ceferin, president of UEFA, to the French sports daily L'Equipe on 24/08/2020, after the "Final 8" of the Champions League ended with a 1-0 victory in the final for FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) versus Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1 Uber Eats) on 23/08/2020.

"The quarter-finals, semi-finals and final of the 2019-20 Champions League will be played as an eight-team knockout final (the 'Final 8') at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica and at the Estádio José Alvalade, in Lisbon (POR), from 12 to 23/08/2020," announced UEFA at the end of a videoconference meeting of its executive committee on 17/06/2020.
