Bundesliga: DAZN recovers rights via sub-license from Eurosport for the 2020-21 season

The OTT platform DAZN will recover the broadcasting rights to 45 matches per season organised by the DFL, including 40 Bundesliga matches, for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, via sub-license from Discovery, Eurosport's parent company, for the 2020-21 season, on 26/08/2020.

DAZN had previously broadcast these matches (40 Bundesliga matches per season on Friday evening, Sunday 13:30 or Monday evening, plus the DFL-Supercup and the Bundesliga/2.Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga/3.Liga playoffs) during the 2019-20 season following a previous agreement signed on 18/07/2019.

Eurosport had unilaterally terminated its contract with the DFL during the suspension of the German championship due to the Covid-19 pandemic (between 14/03 and 16/05/2020). A German court of arbitration then invalidated this termination on 13/08/2020.
