eSports: record number of DFL clubs (26) participate in the "VBL Club Championship" on FIFA 21

26 Bundesliga (12) and 2.Bundesliga (14) clubs will participate in the third edition of the "VBL Club Championship", the official competition for DFL clubs (Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga) on the FIFA 21 video game, indicated the German League on 25/08/2020. This tournament complements the already existing "TAG Heuer Virtual Bundesliga" competition.

"In 2012, the DFL became the first professional football league to have its own eFootball competition when it launched the VBL in partnership with EA Sports. The VBL is still the only eSport competition of a professional football league to be directly integrated into the EA Sports FIFA game series. The VBL has enjoyed steadily growing popularity since its launch, with around 130,000 participants taking part last season," stated the DFL.

The "VBL Club Championship", which will crown a German eFootball champion, will start in November. The DFL will publish the schedule for the new season at the end of September.
