Bundesliga: RB Leipzig authorized to host 8,500 fans at the Red Bull Arena for first match vs Mainz

RB Leipzig will be able to accommodate 8,500 spectators at the Red Bull Arena (42,558 capacity) for the reception of FSV Mainz 05 on Matchday 1 of the 2020-21 Bundesliga season on Sunday 20/09/2020 (kick-off at 15:30 CET), according to the club on 01/09/2020.

Germany plans to extend until the end of 2020 the ban on public attendance at stadiums, cultural venues, festivals and fairs, with exceptions in regions where the rate of Coronavirus infection is low "if it is ensured that participants come exclusively from that region or neighbouring regions" where the spread of the virus is also contained.

RB Leipzig has set up a specific health protocol that has been validated by the health authorities of the city of Leipzig (Saxony, GER), enabling it to welcome the public again for its first home match of the season.

In particular, a mask must be worn by all spectators and a draw to attend the match will be held only among season ticket holders residing in Saxony (as opposed to season ticket holders living in the neighbouring Länder/regions of Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg and Thuringia). If the…
