Spain: RTVE acquires rights to qualifiers for Roja to Euro 2016 and 2018 World Cup

RTVE acquired the TV, radio, internet and mobile rights to the qualifying matches of the Spanish team to Euro 2016 (France, 10/06 to 10/07/2016) and the 2018 World Cup (Russia), the Spanish public broadcasting group announced on 14/05/2014.

The rights guarantee RTVE 10 matches at each qualifying phase (September 2014 to November 2015 for Euro 2016, and from September 2016 to November 2017 for the 2018 World Cup) and four additional matches if La Roja must play in the two competitions' playoffs.

RTVE will produce the qualifiers of the Spanish team that are played at home. The rights also allow RTVE to broadcast a program of summaries for games played the same night as those of the Spanish selection.

The rights, acquired from CAA Eleven, the agency that manages and markets the TV rights for competitions of national teams organised by UEFA (Union of European Football Associations), may have gone for between €35m and €40m, according to Spanish media.
