France: SM Caen (Ligue 2 BKT) sold to US investment fund Oaktree and Pierre-Antoine Capton

"An agreement reached with the historical shareholders of the Stade Malherbe Caen (Ligue 2 BKT) allows Oaktree Captial Management (investment fund, USA) and Pierre-Antoine Capton to acquire 100% of the shares of the Norman club and thus become its exclusive owners," announced SM Caen on 07/09/2020.

The club's capital was until now divided between SMC 10, a holding company which comprised the 13 main shareholders of SM Caen, including the audiovisual producer Pierre-Antoine Capton, for a total of 80%, and Club SMC, which consisted of around fifty small local shareholders who together held the remaining 20%.

"This operation, which will be finalised after appearing before the DNCG in mid-September, marks a turning point in the history of the Stade Malherbe Caen and forges strong sporting ambitions for the 2020-21 season," added the club whose new president is Olivier Pickeu.
