"I am not a candidate for the presidency of the (French) League. I am however honored that a number of club presidents have thought of me. It is very kind and I am touched. But I am not a candidate for this position, having professional commitments that I wish to honor outside the League. Thank you to them for having thought of me, but it is for the moment impossible," stated François Morinière, president of the management board of the Labruyère group (holding company of the Moulin-à-Vent, Jacques Prieur, Château Rouget and Labruyère champagnes), to the French sports media lequipe.fr on 07/09/2020.

François Morinière is one of the five candidates (with Michel Denisot, Alain Guerrini, Vincent Labrune and Gervais Martel) for the five positions of independent directors on the board of directors of the French Professional Football League: the elective general assembly is scheduled for Thursday 10/09/2020. It is among these five that the successor to Nathalie Boy de la Tour, president since 11/11/2016 and who is not a candidate for a second term, must be chosen.
