Switzerland-Germany (1-1), 2020-21 Nations League match (League A, group 4) played behind closed doors in Basel (SUI), drew an average of 6.515 million viewers on the German public TV channel ZDF on Sunday 06/09/2020 (kick-off at 20:45 CET).

This is the worst audience for a German national team match since the 2017 Confederations Cup match versus Australia on Monday, 19/06/2017, with a 16:00 CET kick-off.

This figure represented an audience share of 21.7% and ranked ZDF only second in the German television market for prime time on 06/09/2020, behind the other German public channel ARD (8.26 million viewers for the series Tatort, audience share: 25.5%). This is the worst audience share for a German national team match since News Tank Football began recording its audiences (03/09/2014).

In Germany, over the 2018-2022 cycle, the national team's matches are broadcast on:
- the free and private TV channel RTL (friendlies and qualifying matches for Euro 2020 and the World Cup 2022)
- the public TV channels ARD and ZDF (Nations League matches)
- the OTT platform DAZN (delayed broadcast).
