Bundesliga: Borussia Dortmund looking for exclusive sponsor within five years

Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga) wish to enter into a contract with an exclusive sponsor "in the next five years," said Hans-Joachim Watzke, the club's executive director, on 14/05/2014. The partnership sought would be modelled on FC Bayern Munich's contract with German insurer Allianz.

"The companies on the DAX (Frankfurt stock-market) should, in the interest of competition, not just focus on Bayern Munich," said Watze in an interview with the German magazine Stern.

Allianz acquired an 8.33% stake in FC Bayern Munich AG corporation for €110m on 11/02/2014. This investment will enable the FC Bayern Munich to finance the construction of a new training centre and to increase the capacity of the Allianz Arena (71,137 in 2014) to 75,000. The insurer also got the naming rights to the Bavarian club's stadium for an estimated €6m annually.
