Serie A: League in favour of the creation of a media company, two consortium offers to be studied

The twenty Serie A TIM clubs have unanimously decided "to give the green light to the in-depth analysis necessary for the creation of a media company" at the Lega Serie A assembly, in Milan (ITA) on 09/09/2020.

"We are going to deepen the two consortium proposals for the media company because there are some details to be checked. The League has been working for years with intermediaries, but it is time for the value to remain in-house," said Paolo Dal Pino, president of the Italian League, at the end of the assembly.

According to Italian media, the first consortium would be made up of CVC Capital Partners, a Luxembourg fund with a particular presence in rugby (see related article), the US fund Advent and the Italian public fund FSI (Fondo Strategico Italiano) and would offer €1.65bn to acquire 10% of the future company. The second, made up of the US fund Bain Capital and the Italian fund NB Renaissance Partners, are reported to have made a €1.35bn offer to also own 10% of the company.
