Bundesliga: stadiums at 20% capacity for the first six weeks (Matchday 1 on 18 to 20/09/2020)

A maximum of 20% of the seats in Bundesliga stadiums have been authorized to be occupied by spectators until 31/10/2020, ahead of Matchday 1 of the German championship scheduled from Friday 18 to Sunday 20/09/2020.

This rule (with a minimum of 1,000 spectators), which also applies to handball and basketball, is the result of an agreement reached at the regional level on 15/09/2020: "This will be a kind of experiment, a trial ball," explained Markus Söder, Minister President of Bavaria, after a meeting between his counterparts from the other 15 German Länder (large, relatively autonomous regions).

No spectators, however, will be admitted if the local rate of Covid-19 cases over seven days exceeds 35 per 100,000 inhabitants.

The 36 Bundesliga and 2^nd Bundesliga clubs adopted a series of joint measures at the Extraordinary General Assembly on 04/08/2020:
• No tickets sold to fans of visiting clubs until 31/12/2020
• No standing spaces - with exceptions - in the stadiums until 31/10/2020
• No sale of alcohol until 31/10/2020.
