Bundesliga: Carsten Schmidt (Sky Deutschland) appointed CEO of Hertha BSC from 01/12/2020

Carsten Schmidt, former CEO of the pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland, for which he is now an advisor, will take up the position of CEO of Hertha BSC (Bundesliga) from 01/12/2020, according to the German club on 17/09/2020.

"In addition to his overarching responsibilities as managing director, Carsten Schmidt will be directly responsible for the areas of marketing, sales, strategy, corporate communication and internationalization," said Hertha BSC. The 56-year-old will join Michael Preetz, sporting director, and Ingo Schiller, financial director, to form the Berlin club's new management team.

"Our goal was to meet the growing demands of a Bundesliga club as a commercial enterprise over the past few years and to expand the management team. In addition to the core areas of sport and finance, which are very well managed by Michael Preetz and Ingo Schiller, we wanted to have a specialist in the management team responsible for areas that are steadily growing," said Werner Gegenbauer, president of Hertha BSC.
