2020-21 Bundesliga: TV audiences in Germany for the first two matchdays

Eight of the nine games on Matchday 2 of the 2020-21 Bundesliga season, played from 25 to 27/09/2020, posted a cumulative audience of 4.304 million viewers on the channels of the pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland, according to data from German audience measurement institutes AGF and GfK.

The cumulative audience for the eight matches broadcast on Sky Deutschland on Matchday 1 was 3.639 million viewers.

FC Bayern Munich - FC Schalke 04 (8-0), opening match of the 2020-21 Bundesliga season, drew an average of 6.68 million viewers in Germany on the public TV channel ZDF on Friday 18/09/2020 (kick-off at 20:30 CET). This figure represented an audience share of 29.2% and enabled ZDF to post the best audience in the German television market for prime time on 18/09/2020. ZDF holds the free-to-air rights to six DFL matches per season, including three Bundesliga games (Matchdays 1, 17 and 18) over the 2017-2021 cycle.

The audiences of the matches broadcast on the OTT platform DAZN (40 Bundesliga matches in 2020-21) are not communicated.
