UEFA: Executive Committee authorises 30% stadium fill rate, subject to approval by local authorities

The UEFA Executive Committee has authorised the partial return of spectators for UEFA matches, when local legislation allows it, starting with next week's national team matches (first matches on 07/10/2020). The number of spectators will be limited to 30% of the maximum capacity of the stadium, and visiting fans will not be allowed in the venues until further notice, announced UEFA on 01/10/2020.

The European body stated that it took this decision "following the successful pilot match that was held at the UEFA Super Cup" (FC Bayern Munich - Sevilla FC, 2-1 after extra time), played in front of 15,180 spectators at the Puskas Arena (67,000 capacity) in Budapest (HUN) on 24/09/2020 (fill rate: 22.6%).

"Both the admission of fans and the capacity limit are subject to decision of local authorities. UEFA matches cannot be played with spectators where local authorities do not allow it and the limit of 30% may be reached only where the limit set by local authorities is not lower, in which case such limit would apply," said UEFA.
