The German energy provider RheinEnergie AG has extended its stadium-naming contract with FC Köln (2014-15 Bundesliga) until 2018, the team announced on 20/05/2014.

The company, which also hails from Cologne, has had the stadium's naming rights since 2006. The 50,000-capacity stadium hosted the 2006 World Cup. FC Köln, owner of the stadium, will receive €2.1m per year for the period 2015-2018, versus €2m previously. RheinEnergie will also be the shirt sponsor for the U21 team.

FC Köln were the 2.Bundesliga champion in 2013-14; the club thus finds itself in the German first division after having left it at the end of the 2011-12 season.

  • FC Köln adopted a system of contactless payment for their shop and refreshment stands at the RheinEnergieStadion on 25/04/2014.
