Spain/Portugal: MoU between the 2 Leagues extended until July 2023, in support of 2030 World Cup bid

LaLiga and Liga Portugal have extended their 2017 memorandum of understanding (MoU) by three years and which will now bind the two bodies until July 2023, announced both the Spanish and Portuguese professional football leagues on 08/10/2020.

Javier Tebas (ESP), president of LaLiga, and Pedro Proença (POR), president of Liga Portugal, signed the agreement at LaLiga's offices in Madrid (ESP).

"The agreement aims to give continuity to the close relationship that the two organisations have maintained in recent years, in which there have been institutional visits by representatives of the Portuguese tournament to LaLiga and its clubs, the exchange of knowledge between the parties and specific events, like the Copa Ibérica tournament (FC Porto - Getafe CF, 2-1, in Portimao, POR, on 21/07/2019)," said the two leagues.

"The renewal of the LaLiga and Liga Portugal agreement also has a common objective - the firm and unequivocal support for the Spain-Portugal candidacy for the 2030 Football World Cup," added the bodies.
