Premier League (behind closed doors): Sky and BT to market pay-per-view matches (£14.95)

The British pay-TV operators Sky Sports and BT Sport have reached an agreement with the Premier League for matches that were previously unscheduled in October 2020. These games (five per matchday) will be produced and marketed by the two operators in a pay-per-view format, £14.95 (€16.50) per match, announced the Premier League on 09/10/2020.

"Clubs today (09/10/2020) agreed this interim solution to enable all fans to continue to watch their teams live. The agreement will be regularly reviewed in consultation with clubs and in line with any decisions made by Government regarding the return of spectators to stadiums," said the Premier League.

Proceeds from these matches, once production costs have been deducted, will be donated to the clubs according to English press reports.

Under normal circumstances, not all matches are broadcast live in the UK due to the TV blackout (a ban on broadcasting live matches on Saturdays between 14:45 and 17:45 local time/15:45 and 18:15 CET), which is designed to boost stadium attendance.
