LFP TV rights: loan of €120m validated by LFP board of directors and formal notice to Mediapro

The board of directors of the LFP validated the loan of €120m contracted by the League to compensate for the non-payment of Mediapro (October 2020 amount of approximately €140m), during a meeting on 15/10/2020, reported the French sports media L'Équipe the next day. This solution must be definitively approved during the general assembly of clubs, scheduled for Monday 19/10/2020.

Another loan could also be contracted by the League if the third deadline (out of six per season) is not honored in December by the Chinese-Spanish audiovisual group, which holds the rights to 85% of the matches of Ligue 1 Uber Eats (of which 80% exclusively) and 80% of Ligue 2 BKT matches, over the 2020-2024 cycle, for an estimated amount of €830m per season.

The LFP has also given formal notice to Mediapro to pay its due dates (see below), and can terminate the contract after 30 days of late payment and could then launch a new call for tenders.
