European Premier League: a "project that only looks good when drafted at a bar" (J. Tebas, LaLiga)

"These 'underground' projects only look good when drafted at a bar at 05:00 in the morning," said Javier Tebas (ESP), president of LaLiga, on ESPN on 20/10/2020, regarding the "European Premier League" project mentioned the same day by the British media Sky News.

"Liverpool FC and Manchester United FC are in talks about a plot involving Europe's biggest football clubs to join a new FIFA-backed tournament that would reshape the sport's global landscape. Financiers are assembling a $6bn (£4.6bn/€5.08m) funding package to assist the creation of what could become known as the European Premier League," explained Sky Sports on 21/10/2020.

More than a dozen major clubs from the European Top 5 are reported to be in negotiations to join the project, which could be officially presented before the end of 2020 and then be launched in 2022, according to Sky Sports.
