Italy: 2021-2024 Champions League TV rights awarded to Sky Italia, Amazon and Mediaset (press)

The pay-TV operator Sky Italia, the Italian free-TV group Mediaset and the American e-commerce group Amazon will share the broadcasting rights, in Italy, to the Champions League, for a total amount of approximately €230m per season, over the 2021-2024 cycle, according to Italian media on 21/10/2020.

• Amazon has acquired the broadcasting rights for the Wednesday night top fixture (16 matches + the UEFA Super Cup) for an estimated €80m per season.
• Mediaset recovers the Tuesday night top fixture (16 matches), for free-to-air broadcasting, for an estimated €45m per year.
• Sky Italia has acquired all other matches for more than €100m per season.
• The OTT platform DAZN and the public broadcaster RAI, who also bid, were not awarded any of the lots. The rights to the final lot have not yet been awarded.

Sky Italia currently holds the rights to the competition, over the 2018-2021 cycle, for an estimated €260m per season. Sky Italia sub-licensed the rights for one top fixture per matchday to the public broadcasting group RAI (in 2018-19) and then to Mediaset (2019-2021).
