Manchester United: agreement with Chevrolet extended by six months due to Covid-19

Chevrolet, a US car manufacturer, has extended as a partner and main shirt sponsor of Manchester United FC (Premier League) for an additional six months, until 31/12/2021, at no extra cost, announced the club upon the presentation of its 2019-20 accounts on 21/10/2020.

The initial agreement, planned for the 2014-2021 cycle, was due to end on 30/06/2021 and Chevrolet had announced on 11/10/2019 that it did not want to extend the partnership beyond that date.

"In August 2020, due to the disruption caused by the pandemic, the company entered into a variation agreement with General Motors (Chevrolet) to extend the maturity date of the original shirt sponsor agreement by a period of six months to 31 December 2021. There are no other significant changes to the sponsorship rights or total consideration, which will now be paid in sterling via installments during the period to 30/06/2021," said Manchester United.

The new agreement does not provide Manchester United with any additional funding but does however provide them with more time to find a successor to Chevrolet.
