TV rights: "The French League must renegotiate its contract with Mediapro" (Javier Tebas, LaLiga)

"The French League had to expect that a media rights holder would renegotiate its contract. This contract must be renegotiated. We in Spain have renegotiated our contracts, and with significant discounts. If Mediapro has acquired a product that it cannot operate it properly, for example with the closing of bars that broadcast football, you have to sit down to renegotiate in good faith. Mediapro holds the international broadcast rights to LaLiga Santander until 2023-24. Mediapro must pay €897m per season for these rights, an increase of 30% compared to the previous contract, announced LaLiga on 25/06/2018. The broadcasting rights to LaLiga Santander are also allocated (over the 2021-2026 period) in seven European countries, including France.
