The Arena de Sao Paulo in Sao Paulo (population: 11.822m, capital of Sao Paulo state) was built to host the 2014 World Cup. The private stadium belongs to its resident club, Sport Club Corinthians Paulista (2014 Serie A).

The roof of the stadium in Sao Paulo will not be fully completed for the opening of the World Cup (Brazil-Croatia, 12/06/2014), the construction company Odebrecht announced on 16/05/2014. After the competition, the two upper stands located behind the goals will be removed to reduce the capacity to 47,000 seats.

The construction of the Arena de Sao Paulo is expected to cost 990m reais (€ 325m), of which 400m reais (€ 132m) in federal funding through a loan from the BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development).
