The Arena da Baixada in Curitiba (population: 1.746m, capital of the state of Parana) was delivered on 15/05/2014, after a test match between Atlético Paranaense and Corinthians (1-2, 2014 Serie A) on 14/05/2014.

At the time, facilities around the stadium were not completed, some toilets did not work and few sales points were open. Press facilities were still under construction. Furthermore, not all of the 41,400 seats had been installed. Atlético Paranaense (Serie A), the resident club, will try to arrange for another test match before the start of the World Cup.

The total investment was 360m reais (€119m), Atlético Paranaense announced. The club benefited from a loan of 247.5m reais (€81.7m) from the BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development). The stadium, which was built in 1914, was enlarged and a retractable roof was installed.
