FC Barcelona: Carles Tusquets appointed interim president following the resignation of J.M. Bartomeu

Carles Tusquets, by virtue of his position as president of the economic strategy committee at FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander), has been appointed president of the management committee responsible for calling new elections for the presidency of the Spanish club, announced the club on 28/10/2020. In effect, Carles Tusquets is serving as Barça's interim president.

This announcement follows the resignation of Josep Maria Bartomeu and the entire board of the Catalan club on 27/10/2020 (see below). According to FC Barcelona's statutes, in the case of such an event, a management committee must be appointed to ensure the transition to the new board of directors. This management committee is then led by the president of the economic strategy committee, an advisory body that sits alongside the board.
