Council of Europe: opening of the 16^th Conference of Ministers responsible for Sport on 05/11/2020

"The Conference of Council of Europe Ministers responsible for Sport will focus on the revision of the European Sports Charter and a specific highlight on Human Rights in Sport," said the Council of Europe on the occasion of the opening of the 16^th Conference of Ministers responsible for Sport to be held by videoconference on Thursday 05/11/2020.

"The European Sports Charter (document available to download) provides guidance for the Council of Europe's member states to perfect existing legislations or other policies and to develop a comprehensive framework for sport," explained the international body headquartered in Strasbourg (FRA) and which unites 47 states, including the 27 members of the European Union.

"Sport is an important facet of modern life. Sports' governance is facing many challenges in a world that is rapidly changing ant it can also, if unchecked, lead to human rights issues. Practicing sport is a human right and a goal shared by all governments," stated the Council of Europe.
